Qurra-tul-anne grew up in Scotland and did a tailors cutter apprenticeship whilst studying art and media in Scotland. She started her first label, Q Label Clothing, at sixteen and then followed her love of fashion to London. She graduated from London college of Fashion in 2003 and the day after she finished her course started working as head designer for Britain's' first hip-hop brand, Dark n Cold. Qurra stayed with Dark n Cold for three years, contributing to the launch of their infamous D lady collection, discovering the joys of marketing strategies and establishing overseas' manufacturing connections. Since leaving to launch her own label, Fem-Boi, Qurra has done a thousand different things, some involved with fashion, some not.The other love of her life is music, particularly Hip-Hop, R and B, Bhangra, Desi Beats, DnB, Bollywood... She produced, presented and co-hosted internet radio station Edukasian (Check it out at www.xsteameast.co.uk) for two years, ran her own night Dum-Dume, and helped run East with DJ Ritu (BBC Radio, Kuch Kuch). She still has a residency in London and has worked internationally, with the likes of San-j Sanj (Club Asia), DJ Ritu and Punjabi MC.
For the last six months Qurra has been traveling in North Africa, co-authoring an academic paper on Muslim hip-hop, designing constantly and setting up production links for her new collection. She is also currently doing a research project on Women in Global Hip-Hop, and is vaguely thinking about trying out a new city.
