The Birth of Fem-Boi (D.O.B: 08/11/2001).

Once upon a time in 1994, in a place not very far away from here, in street where you've probably passed, Fem-Boi was born. When Qurra walked through eighteen shops in London and still couldn't find a decent pair of womens' jeans. In the pouring rain she cursed before submitting to the mens departments to get her baggies, and thought, not for the first time, who the hell are womens clothes designed for? something just wasn't right.

She embarked on market research and discovered that her frustration was not so rare. Almost every woman she spoke to, tall and short, big and petit, gay or straight, was either wearing men’s jeans (too big and just don't fit right round the arse) or women’s tops which were too tight. This was not some random occurrence; the clothes were wrong! They didn't fit right, didn't look right, and most importantly, just didn't feel right.

Fem-Boi was born to make real clothes for real womens' bodies. Its first aspiration was to enjoy the tailoring methods traditionally used in menswear to better cater for womens form. Its second aim was to track down the best, toughest, yet softest materials and fit them to bodies in a non-frustrating way. Its third aim was to stay faithful to the music that moves the world, by fusing influences from street wear, surf wear, skate wear, from Arab to Asian and from Hip Hop to Bollywood.

Fem-Bois' label is not about the label, it is about moving beyond all labels and feeling comfortable and gorgeous whilst doing so. It is not just feminine, not just boi, and not just something in between. Fem-Boi is about feminine energy not restricted by ever-changing design fetishes or male obsession with size eights in tight clothes. It is about comfort and style, and is neutral enough to be worn everywhere, yet divinely inspired enough to wear alone. Fem-Boi is about the movement that makes us women; movement between roles, rules, realities and reasons for wearing what we wear. Most simply, Fem-Boi is fluid, unrestrained Female Energy Moving Beyond Our Imagination.....
